This week we had the pleasure of attending the unveiling of Sue Howell Park.
This was a tremendously exciting experience for us, one we are eternally grateful and thankful for.
Sue Howell Park, once it is built, will be added to the City of Boise’s Ribbon of Jewels – a string of parks along the Boise River bearing the names of remarkable Treasure Valley Women.
All the cool kids were there: Boise Mayor Dave Bieter, Boise Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway, Holli Woodings, TJ Thomson, Elaine Clegg, the entire Stack Rock Group – Boise office, and of course our amazing clients; the Howell Family.
At the unveiling Aaron Howell announced the donation of his 16-acre parcel in southeast Boise. Aaron and his wife are long-time south Boise residents committed to improving the quality of life for generations of Boiseans.
The park is all about Sue’s favorite things: education, fitness, and nature. Features to be included are fitness courts, water features, and numerous opportunities for education and observing nature.
Speakers at the unveiling included Boise Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway, Boise Mayor Dave Bieter, and Aaron Howell.
There was also a great media presence for the event. Here is what the local media had to say about the project:
- BoiseDev - Land Donation Wall Add New “Ribbon of Jewels” Park to Boise River
- Idaho Statesman - There’s a new park coming near the Boise River. This is the woman they’re naming it for
- KTVB - New park site donated to the city of Boise
- Idaho Press - Boise announces 11th Ribbon of Jewels park on city’s eastern edge
- CBS 2 News - New 16-acre park set to grow its roots in Boise
- KIVI Boise - Land donated for new southeast Boise park
The City of Boise seems pretty pleased with the project as well. Here is what the city has to say:
- City of Boise - New Ribbon of Jewels Park donated to City of Boise
- LIV Boise - New Ribbon of Jewels Park Donated to City of Boise
“We love kids, and we love them tired. That’s what parks are all about!”
Boise Mayor Dave Bieter
All of us here at Stack Rock Group are extremely grateful for the trust Aaron Howell and his family have given us. We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to design this park and are proud to be a part of Sue’s legacy.
